    You mention Heartbeat didn't support SRM but the following article shows support for it:

    "You can use VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM) to protect vCenter installations that implement vCenter Server Heartbeat. This document describes the implementation best practices on how to install and configure SRM when vCenter Server Heartbeat is involved. "
