Yesterday with much excitement and fanfare Eric Siebert announced the voting results for the Worlds Top VMware virtualization blogs for 2013 at vSphere-Land.com. As a new entrant to the list I was very pleased to see that longwhiteclouds.com made it into the top 25 at number 21. A big thank you to Eric for putting the voting together and to all my readers and followers that voted for me and my blog. It’s a great honour to be amongst so many other hard working and talented bloggers. I produce this content for the community to try and make your lives easier when designing, deploying and operating VMware environments and so you can avoid common and uncommon traps along the way. It’s really great to be recognised like this and to be appreciated for the work. Below I’ll give you a very brief overview of some of the highlights and you can watch the announcement video.
There is so much quality content that the competition to make it into the top 25 let alone the top 10 is very tough. It was great to see this year so many new blogs making it into the top 25 and with Cormac Hogan making it into the top 10. It was a fantastic achievement that Duncan Epping at Yellow-Bricks and Frank Denneman took out spots 1 and 2 respectively, Frank moves up from number 5 last year. For Duncan he has been #1 for 6 years running, which is amazing. Frank has posted the top 25 list with associated twitter handles on his blog, you can view it here. There was a lot of movement in the top 10 and even more in the top 25. Big congrats also to Chris Wahl from the Wahl Network for being voted #1 independent blogger and for William Lam from virtuallyGhetto being voted #1 scripting blog. I am very fortunate and thankful that I’ve met all of the top 10 bloggers at one time or another and find them a constant source of inspiration.
There were over 1300 votes from 60 countries for 243 blogs. Given the sheer numbers it’s a huge honour to get voted into the top 25. My goal for next year is to continue to produce great content aimed at Business Critical Apps and Cloud and move well into the top 20 and closer to the top 10. Virtualization Phase 2 as Chris Wahl from the Wahl Network (#12 on the list from #51 last year) puts it, is now very much upon us. The last mile of Business Critical Apps running on x86 and also on traditional unix is ripe for virtualization and I plan to help you migrate them successfully to VMware vSphere and with vCloud Director and the other components of the vCloud Suite so you can build your Software Defined Datacenter. So look out for more on this topic and remember as always your feedback is greatly appreciated.
In the vChat video below Eric Siebert, David Davis, Simon Seagrave (a fellow Kiwi abroad), and John Troyer introduce the worlds top 25 VMware virtualization blogs for 2013.
