I am very grateful and fortunate to have been invited by HP to attend their Discovery 2013 event in Las Vegas next week along with a small number of other bloggers from all over the world. This is my first time to HP Discover and I’m looking forward to learning a lot about all things HP infrastructure and applications, especially as it relates to Virtualizing Business Critical Applications and Software Defined Datacenter. HP are expecting 12000+ attendees at the event, which is being hosted at the Venetian Conference Center. One of the interesting stats I found out is that 46% of the attendees are in IT management positions. So that makes it a good place to network. This article will cover some of the sessions I’m going to be attending and looking out for. Note: Travel to HP Discover 2013 was paid for by HP; however, no monetary compensation is expected nor received for the content that is written in this blog.
VMware is a platinum sponsor of HP Discover 2013 so naturally they have a few breakout sessions and they look to be very interesting, including with guest speaker Eric Siebert. There are also a number of VMware speakers at other sessions. I’ll include the list below. Apart from the pure VMware content I’m really looking forward to learning more about HP storage from @HPStorageGuy Calvin Zito. I’ll be checking out content related to business critical applications and the HP software related to transforming software development and testing. Given the scale of HP as an organization and the different areas of technology that they touch Discover looks to be an incredible event. Few other industry events have the breadth of technology on display all in one place all at the same time and across so many platforms. I hope to be meeting up with a lot of the key people from HP and will post information and updates from the event.

Thanks so much to HP for inviting me to this event and for all the organisers that are helping with arrangements. It’s shaping up to be a great event and there will be some great content. There are so many sessions packed into only 3 days, plus the huge exhibition floor. Don’t forget to register for any of the sessions you like the sound of as they are filling up fast and some sessions already have a wait list. If you’re going to HP Discover maybe we’ll bump into each other. It’s always nice to meet people who read my articles. Hope to see you there.
